Globus uses agents to optimise pricing

Self-service department store operator Globus is using a new technique to optimise its decisions on pricing, special offers and product discontinuations. The St Wendel-based company is initially to use Dacos' new Simulation Engine, based on agent technology, in two of its large self-service department stores. Product managers will use the software to make faster decisions about special offers, to make more time for clearing product lines. The software, which takes developments from the German Research Centre for Artificial Intelligence and makes them practical for use in the retail trade, was developed using data from the data warehouses of dm Drogeriemarkt, Tegut and Globus. In the second phase, from November, Globus wants to start using Customer Relationship Management analysis.
